Mega panel installation on side of building

The University of Cincinnati Calhoun Residence Hall renovation is the first project in Ohio to utilize Mega Panels—large, prefabricated exterior wall panels made up of several building elements and material types used to upgrade the facade of the building. From windows and vapor barrier to curtain wall, every part of the exterior facade is complete once the Mega Panels are installed.

The Mega Panels were prefabricated in Allentown, Pennsylvania by Eastern Exterior Wall Systems, and shipped to the jobsite, ready to install during the demolition phase of the project. They're made up of a rain screen system composed of aluminum composite material and Wausau windows and held together with Cold-formed Metal Framing (CFMF) and fiberglass mat sheathing.

Buildings with large, exterior surface areas, repetition and tight construction sites are well-suited for Mega Panels, making Calhoun Hall an excellent candidate. Mega Panels can increase speed to market, reduce schedule and cost, and improve assembly quality.
