Description

The East Quad Renovation supports the ongoing initiative at the university to maximize efficiency on campus. It is a 300,00 sf renovation to five of Miami University’s residence halls. All five halls include single, double and triple rooms; Resident Assistant (RA) rooms and a staff apartment. There is also a new 16,000 sf dining hall and chiller plant and site infrastructure upgrades.

Features

  • Without adding time to the aggressive schedule, Messer successfully added a 16,000 sf dining hall to the renovation. 
  • The M/WBE participation rate for this project was 29%, more than quadrupling the economic inclusion goal of Miami University.
  • Bid packages included 68 different scopes of work and resulted in nearly 50 different subcontractors.
  • Building Information Modeling (BIM) and laser scanning were used to ensure a seamless tie-in of old systems to new state-of-the-art technologies. 
  • During the construction process, the Messer team and staff at Miami University worked together to ensure construction would not negatively impact campus life.
  • LEED Silver certified.
