Taft Theatre Renovation

Cincinnati, OH

Details

  • Assignment: Construction Manager
  • Architect: GBBN Architects, Inc.

Description

Originally built in 1928, the Taft Theatre required updated amenities. This included a 38,500 sf renovation; added air conditioning in auditorium and main areas, upgraded and increased capacity of restrooms, replaced 2,424 seats in auditorium, and completed aesthetic upgrades.

Features

  • The project team faced the challenge of installing new mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) equipment in a facility built nearly a century prior - and obviously not designed to contain this equipment. Messer worked diligently with all subcontractors and CSO to ensure that while the upgrades improved the visitor experience, the original architecture and beauty were not compromised.
